About

About Summit Labs — Enterprise AI Consulting for Small Business

Enterprise-grade thinking applied to the businesses that need it most. Built on sixteen years of high-stakes delivery — not on a vendor playbook.

Our Story

The Summit Labs Story

Summit Labs was founded on a simple observation: small businesses face the same technology and operational challenges as Fortune 500 banks — without the resources, teams, or institutional knowledge to solve them.

Rob Neal spent sixteen years at JPMorgan Chase — not watching from the sidelines, but in the seat. He rose from running mortgage technology releases to Vice President over merchant-services releases, and finished by owning testing and release for the payment platforms small businesses run their revenue through. When a launch could not fail, it was his call to make.

That kind of work teaches you things you can't learn from a textbook. You learn what breaks under pressure and how to prevent it. You learn how to align teams that don't naturally speak the same language. And you learn that the difference between a good plan and a great outcome is almost always execution discipline. Rob brought all of that with him when he founded Summit Labs.

That career built a conviction: the frameworks, rigor, and strategic thinking that power large organizations shouldn't be locked behind enterprise budgets. Small businesses deserve that same level of capability — adapted to their scale, their constraints, and their goals.

The name Summit Labs reflects Rob's personal philosophy, rooted in a lifelong passion for mountaineering. Every summit demands preparation, the right tools, an honest read on the terrain, and the discipline to execute when conditions get difficult. Building a better business is no different.

"Every summit demands preparation, the right tools, and the discipline to execute."

The Summit Labs Philosophy

Experience

What Sixteen Years of Enterprise Delivery Looks Like in Practice

Rob brings the operational discipline, cross-functional leadership, and structured problem-solving skills honed over sixteen years of delivering high-stakes technology programs — now applied to the businesses that need it most. He's managed the full lifecycle: from strategy and planning through execution, testing, and production delivery.

That experience means he's seen what happens when planning falls short, when teams misalign, and when stakeholders lose confidence. He's also seen what it takes to prevent all of that — and that's exactly what Summit Labs delivers.

  • Production deployment discipline
  • Pre-release testing & QA rigor
  • Cross-functional team leadership
  • Executive stakeholder alignment
  • Complex program management
  • Workflow automation & integration
  • Technical translation for non-technical leaders
  • Vendor evaluation & accountability

Philosophy

The Mountain Mindset

Rob's lifelong passion for mountaineering isn't separate from how he works — it's the foundation. The mountain doesn't care about your plans. It cares about your preparation, your judgment, and your willingness to adapt when the route changes.

The same principles apply to building a business. You need a clear objective, the discipline to prepare thoroughly, the tools suited to the terrain, and the composure to make good decisions under pressure. That's the operating philosophy behind every engagement at Summit Labs.

Preparation over improvisation.
The work before the work is what separates good outcomes from great ones.
Honest assessment.
Knowing where you stand — even when the answer is uncomfortable — is always the starting point.
Right tools for the terrain.
Not the trendiest tools, not the most expensive ones — the right ones for your specific situation.
Steady progress, measured results.
Every step should move you closer to the summit. If it doesn't, we change the route.

The record

Sixteen years, one bank, three seats.

Every consultant says they have experience. Here is exactly what mine was — the roles, the years, and the scale each one operated at.

  1. 2022 – 2025

UAT & Release Manager, Small Business Payments

    JPMorgan Chase · Merchant Services

Ran testing and release for the payment platforms small businesses run their revenue through. Led a team of seven senior testers and built the automated coverage that let those platforms ship without the merchants on them ever noticing.

  2. 2017 – 2022

Vice President, Release Manager & Senior Product Manager

    JPMorgan Chase · Merchant Services

Owned simultaneous enterprise releases across the merchant-services estate — deciding what shipped, what waited, and what the risk was. Rebuilt release scheduling into something leadership could actually see, and led the move from waterfall to agile delivery.

  3. 2009 – 2017

Release Manager, Project Manager, Team Manager

JPMorgan Chase · Mortgage & Banking Technology

Directed mortgage technology releases and regulatory rollouts reaching tens of thousands of users, leading a global team. Regulated work, real deadlines, and the kind of launches where the fallback plan matters more than the launch plan.

Also certified: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) (Scrum Alliance), ITIL v3 (AXELOS).

Summit Labs is headquartered in Lakeland, Florida and serves owners across Tampa Bay and the United States. Senior enterprise delivery experience paired with SMB pragmatism — smaller budgets, tighter timelines, and zero appetite for vanity transformation programs.
