AI Consulting & Technology Services for Small Business

Enterprise discipline at small-business scale — organized into four areas: see what's happening, build and automate it, launch it safely, and keep it moving forward.

01See & Assess

An honest read on the terrain before you spend a dollar moving.

I can't see what's actually happening in my business.

Pattern recognition from running dozens of interdependent enterprise programs, plus the executive-grade reporting built for leadership at one of the largest banks in the country.

Start with Summit SignalMost clients enter here, then move outward.

Operations Audit

See what's working — and what isn't.

Most small businesses run on a patchwork of tools and processes that grew organically over years. The audit unwinds that — workflow mapping, bottleneck identification, technology stack assessment, and a vendor-neutral roadmap focused on quick wins first, then strategic moves.

Services

  • Process mining and workflow mapping
  • Revenue leak analysis
  • Technology stack assessment
  • Data strategy review

Sample deliverables

  • Tech stack assessment report
  • Workflow bottleneck map with time and cost impact
  • Prioritized modernization roadmap
  • Vendor evaluation matrix

Dashboards & Reporting

See your whole business at a glance.

If running the numbers means an afternoon of copy-paste across spreadsheets, you're flying blind between reports. We build the executive dashboards and automated reporting that put your real metrics in one place, updated on their own — the same kind of decision-grade reporting built for leadership in enterprise financial services, scaled to what you actually need to watch.

Services

  • KPI and metric definition with your team
  • Connected, automated data pipelines
  • Executive and operational dashboards
  • Scheduled reports that send themselves
  • Training so your team can read and trust the numbers

Sample deliverables

  • A live executive dashboard
  • Automated recurring reports
  • Documented metric definitions
  • A single source of truth for your numbers

02Build & Automate

Connect it, automate it, build what's missing — and prove it works.

The work is manual, disconnected, and it doesn't scale.

Three products shipped to production — Client Check, Funder IQ, and Summit Signal — and a testing background almost no small-business advisor can match.

Book a Strategy HourStart with a scoped automation pilot or a focused Strategy Hour.

Automation & Systems Buildout

Connect, automate, build.

Connect disconnected tools, automate the manual work, and build custom software where off-the-shelf won't fit. The work runs in weeks, not months, and ships in production rather than slide deck.

Services

  • Identify high-value automation opportunities
  • Connect CRM, accounting, scheduling, and communications systems
  • Build custom apps when off-the-shelf software won't fit
  • Deploy intelligent agents where the workflow benefits
  • Train your team for sustained adoption
  • Ongoing technical support

Sample deliverables

  • Automation opportunity assessment with ROI projections
  • Integrated workflow across your existing tools
  • Custom-built application from prototype to production
  • Team training and adoption plan

AI Enablement & Training

Get your team actually using AI.

Buying AI tools is easy; getting a team to use them well is the hard part. We run hands-on, role-specific training — how to prompt, where AI helps, where it doesn't — and leave behind playbooks and guardrails so adoption sticks after we're gone. Practical, not theoretical, and grounded in the same change-management discipline that moved enterprise teams off legacy ways of working.

Services

  • Role-specific, hands-on AI workshops
  • Prompt libraries and playbooks built for your work
  • Tool selection and safe-use guardrails
  • Adoption tracking and follow-up coaching
  • Team enablement and lunch-and-learn sessions

Sample deliverables

  • Live training sessions tailored to your team
  • A prompt and playbook library you keep
  • An AI usage policy and guardrails document
  • An adoption plan with scheduled check-ins

QA & Test Automation

Ship software you can actually trust.

Most small teams ship on hope — a quick click-through, push it live, then wait for the bug reports. QA & Test Automation builds the safety net that catches problems before your customers do: automated tests that re-run every time something changes, real scenarios drawn from how your business actually works, and — where it earns its place — AI that writes and maintains those tests for you. It's the validation discipline from mission-critical systems at one of the largest banks in the country, where 'we think it works' was never allowed to be the answer — sized for a team that just needs its software to hold.

Services

  • Test strategy and coverage plan for your critical software
  • Automated regression and integration test suites
  • Real-world UAT scenarios drawn from your actual workflows
  • AI-assisted test generation and maintenance
  • Defect triage and release-quality reporting
  • CI-hooked test runs so every change is checked

Sample deliverables

  • A documented test strategy tied to your workflows
  • An automated test suite you own and can re-run
  • A regression checklist for every release
  • A quality view: what's tested, what's passing, what's at risk
Great website development. Smooth process, great attention to detail, and we are very happy with the final product.

03Launch & Safeguard

Change the high-stakes things without breaking the business.

We're changing something that touches customers or revenue, and I'm scared it breaks.

Ran release readiness and go/no-go for mission-critical systems at one of the largest banks in the country — the kind that simply can't go down — launching 15+ integrated applications without a major incident.

Explore Go-Live AssuranceStart with a go-live readiness check before your launch date.

Go-Live Assurance

We test it like a bank would — before you flip the switch.

Fixed fee · per system go-live

Quoted in writing before you commit. Covers one system and one go-live within a defined cutover window. Multi-system migrations and extended timelines are scoped separately, so the engagement stays bounded.

Switching your POS, CRM, billing, or scheduling system is where most small businesses get burned — the new thing goes live and quietly breaks something that was working. This is the discipline behind launching 15+ integrated applications at JPMorgan Chase with zero major incidents: real pre-launch testing, an honest go/no-go call, a managed cutover, and a rollback plan — sized so your launch day is a non-event.

Services

  • Pre-launch testing and UAT against your real-world scenarios
  • Go/no-go readiness review before you commit
  • Cutover plan and launch-day war-room support
  • Production validation once you're live
  • Rollback plan so there's always a way back

Sample deliverables

  • Test plan and results tied to your actual workflows
  • Go/no-go decision document
  • Cutover runbook with timing and responsibilities
  • Post-launch validation checklist

Compliance & Controls Readiness

Bank-grade controls, sized for you.

When you start selling to bigger customers — or land in a regulated corner of your market — they'll ask how you handle data, access, and process. We translate enterprise controls into something a small team can actually run: the access rules, audit trails, and documented processes that pass a security review without slowing you down. Built on years of shipping inside one of the most heavily regulated environments there is.

Services

  • Controls and access-review gap assessment
  • Data-handling and security process documentation
  • Audit trails and evidence-collection setup
  • Vendor and third-party risk review
  • Prep for customer security questionnaires

Sample deliverables

  • A controls gap report with priorities
  • Documented policies and processes
  • An evidence and audit-trail setup
  • A reusable security-questionnaire answer kit

04Lead & Sustain

Keep climbing without adding headcount.

I need senior technology judgment, but not a full-time hire.

Led distributed teams and drove enterprise Waterfall-to-Agile transformation across large, high-stakes programs.

See how to engageStart with a Strategy Hour; step up to a retainer when it earns its place.

Fractional Technology & Release Leadership

Strategic guidance without the full-time cost.

Not every business needs a full-time CTO. Most growing small businesses need part-time strategic technology leadership — vendor evaluation, roadmap setting, security oversight, and someone whose job is to translate technology decisions into business decisions. It's also the release and change-management discipline that makes sure what you build actually ships cleanly.

Services

  • Technology strategy and 12-month roadmap
  • Vendor evaluation and contract negotiation support
  • Team guidance and engineering mentoring
  • Release and change-management governance for your delivery
  • Security oversight and architecture review
  • Board- and investor-ready technology assessments

Sample deliverables

  • 12-month technology strategy roadmap
  • Vendor evaluation and contract negotiation support
  • Architecture and security review
  • Board-ready technology assessment
  • Hiring guidance and team mentoring

Delivery & Agile Setup

Help a growing team actually ship.

As a team grows, the way work used to get done stops working — priorities collide, releases slip, and nobody's sure what's shipping when. We set up the delivery rhythm that fixes it: planning, sprints, release cadence, and the few rituals that matter, without the bureaucracy. This is the work behind modernizing delivery across 30+ applications at JPMorgan Chase, scaled down to a team that needs momentum, not overhead.

Services

  • Delivery and release-process design
  • Sprint, planning, and prioritization setup
  • Release calendar and cadence
  • Tooling setup — boards, tracking, workflows
  • Coaching for the team and its leads

Sample deliverables

  • A delivery process documented and running
  • A release calendar and cadence
  • Configured planning and tracking tools
  • A team trained on the new rhythm

Modernization Retainer

Stay modern without hiring.

Flat monthly retainer

Month-to-month, 30-day notice. One flat number for a scope we agree in writing — it only changes when you change what's under management.

Modernization isn't a one-time project — tools change, AI keeps moving, and the automations you ship need an owner. On a flat monthly retainer, Summit Labs stays your on-call technology partner: we keep what we built healthy, fold in new tools as they mature, and keep a steady hand on your roadmap so you keep improving without adding headcount.

Services

  • Maintenance and monitoring of the systems and automations we build
  • First call for new tools, integrations, and AI capabilities as they emerge
  • Quarterly roadmap reviews and priority resets
  • Priority access for questions and small changes
  • Vendor and security check-ins

Sample deliverables

  • Monthly summary of what changed and what's next
  • Maintained, documented automations and integrations
  • Quarterly roadmap refresh
  • A named partner on call — one operator, one phone number

How we work

The Ascent.

Every engagement runs the same four phases. The discipline is what makes consulting feel different from a sales pitch.

  1. I.

    Base Camp

Discovery — a free, no-obligation fit conversation. We understand your business, your tools, and where you suspect the friction is.

  2. II.

    Map the Route

Strategy — a paid working session or diagnostic, depending on scope. Analysis and a written plan of attack.

  3. III.

    The Ascent

Execution — we build, integrate, and implement alongside your team. Defined milestones, written checkpoints, no surprises.

  4. IV.

    The Summit

Results — live solutions in production, ongoing availability for questions, and a documented hand-off so your team owns the system.

"The view from the top changes everything."

The right strategy turns complexity into clarity and effort into momentum.

Pricing

How I price work.

Five terms, and they're the same for every engagement on this page:

  1. 01Scoping is free.A short intake, then about 30 minutes on a call defining exactly what we're doing.
  2. 02You get the number in writing within two business days. One page: the exact fee, what it covers, the timeline, the payment schedule.
  3. 03The number never changes after you sign.No hourly billing, no meter running, no surprise invoices. If the work runs bigger than I scoped, I absorb it.
  4. 04New work gets a new quote. If you ask for something genuinely outside the scope we signed, I'll quote it separately in writing — take it or leave it, the original number stands either way.
  5. 05The quote is good for 30 days, and “no” isn't awkward. No follow-up sequence, no “just checking in.” The scoping notes are yours to keep.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

01How much does a typical engagement cost?
Every engagement is a fixed fee — no hourly billing, ever. You get the exact number in writing after a free scoping call, and it doesn't change after you sign. We don't publish price lists, because the honest number depends on your size and your systems, and we'd rather scope you correctly than have you anchor on a number that was never yours. Two useful reference points: discovery calls are free, and the Strategy Hour is priced so you don't need anyone's approval to book it — the exact fee is on the booking page. If you want to know what the market charges for this kind of work, the cost guides on the blog cover real market ranges.
02Why don't you publish your prices?
Because a list price on a webpage has to be padded to survive the worst case — which means it's either padded or wrong for your business. Instead, the pricing terms are public: scoping is free, the quote arrives in writing within two business days, the number never changes after you sign, and if the work runs bigger than estimated, that's our problem, not your invoice. You'll know your exact number before you commit a dollar.
03How do I know if I'm too small to work with you?
If your business runs on real systems — a POS, a CRM, billing software, actual books — and you have at least a few people whose time is worth protecting, you're probably in range. If you're pre-revenue, or the whole operation is one person and a spreadsheet, most engagements won't pay for themselves yet — start with the blog and the free tools, and come back when there's an operation to diagnose. Either way, you'll hear which side of the line you're on in the first fifteen minutes, free.
04How long does a typical project take?
Most engagements run four to eight weeks end-to-end. The Sprint is two weeks fixed. Larger automation buildouts and custom app work typically run six to twelve weeks.
05Do I need to be technical to work with you?
No. Translating technology decisions into business decisions is the job. Engagements are designed for owners and operators, not engineers.
06What industries do you work with?
Professional services, financial services, healthcare, real estate, construction, and retail. The patterns are similar — fragmented tools, manual reconciliation, scaling beyond the spreadsheet.
07What makes Summit Labs different?
Two things: we actually build (Funder IQ, Client Check, and Summit Signal are live products), and the rigor comes from fifteen years of enterprise financial-services delivery. The discipline transfers; the budget doesn't have to.
08We're switching systems and I'm worried it breaks something. Can you help?
That's exactly what Go-Live Assurance is for. We test the change against your real workflows, make a clear go/no-go call, run the cutover, and keep a rollback plan ready — the same release discipline used for 15+ integrated applications at JPMorgan Chase, sized so your launch day is a non-event.
09Can you test our software before we ship it?
Yes — that's QA & Test Automation. We build the test coverage and automated checks that catch problems before your customers do, drawn from validating mission-critical systems where 'we think it works' was never good enough. It can run as its own engagement or fold into a build.
10Do you work with clients outside Florida?
Yes. Lakeland-based, working with clients across the U.S. remotely. On-site visits are possible for larger engagements when they're worth the travel.

Not Ready for a Full Project?

Two ways to work with us before committing.

A full engagement is a serious investment. Before you commit, you can hire Summit Labs for a single decision or a structured diagnostic — both designed to give you real value on their own, and both credited toward a project if you decide to go bigger.
